Hotel Albana Real is a top notch four star diamond in the middle of Zermatt! This is not your average hotel! The hotel is a hidden gem in this gorgeous town. Inside this wonderful hotel another world is waiting for you! The hotel invites you to cross the line into an extraordinary world where lovely design and service are top priority. I was so surprised… let me tell you why!

When I entered the hotel I was welcomed with a great smile! I immediately felt at home and noticed the family atmosphere.

I loved my room here! Each room at Hotel Albana Real is unique and all feature the mountain style theme. We stayed in their Real Suite. At 90m², the suite is huge and featured high quality furniture, including a cozy sitting and dining area. The king sized bed was among the best I have experienced. The suite has a prime view over the Matterhorn. I was really impressed. I have been several times to Zermatt and the view of this gorgeous mountain was the very best I have experienced. We even had a full Matterhorn view while we were in bed.

I must also highlight the amazing (lighted!) jacuzzi bath tub in the bathroom. It was sooooo relaxing to unwind here after a day on the slopes in Zermatt. The separate shower was a bonus!

I also did visit several other types of rooms. Hotel Albana Real recently renovated their rooms and all looked very comfortable and up to date. A very nice detail: upon check-in, you will find a nice bottle of red wine for you to enjoy! Very nice…

I recharged myself at the spa center. This is the place to relax, unwind and refresh yourself after an active day in the mountains. The indoor pool is inviting as is the jaccuzi. The sauna and steam room are a treat and feel very exclusive. There’s relaxing music playing all over the place, even inside the sauna there are speakers. Very relaxing! I loved the lay out of the wellness area and the place was very well maintained. So even when the weather is bad, there’s no time of getting bored at Hotel Albana Real. There are so many things to do.

Another highlight here is Rua Thai. This is the place to be when you are looking for a unique Thai dining experience. The food and service here were top notch! I loved every single bite here. The restaurant is located in a unique setting. It kind of looked like we were in a ship. The maritime theme was noticeable throughout the entire restaurant. Very cool! As for the food, the choices here are endless and there’s something that will suite anyone’s taste. Our dining experience started with a mix of several traditional Thai starters. The fried shrimp and chicken sate were definitely one of my favorites. I immediately appreciated the fresh ingredients the chef used to prepare our dishes. The red curry chicken as a main course was just delicious and not too spicy! Exactly the way I requested. And of course, there’s always room for dessert! The banana split was so yummie! Definitely worth the calories 😊 An extra thank you for the great service!

Their other restaurant, Fuji of Zermatt, is a wonderful Japanese restaurant. I’m in love with the design of this restaurant. It is a trendy and stylish place. We did order some sushi and loved it! Highly recommended to book a table before you arrive at the hotel as both Asian restaurants were fully booked while we were there. There’s also a bar next to the restaurants with smoking lounge. We ordered drinks here and all were great and reasonably priced. We met some fellow travelers here and had a great chat with other the other guests.

Hotel Albana Real is located near the slopes of Zermatt. We were there during the winter season and of course we enjoyed the slopes of this gorgeous skiing area. Honestly, it is the best skiing area I have experienced in Switzerland. Of course, the unique views of the Matterhorn are mind blowing, but also the whole area is well connected and ski lifts are up to date and very efficient. There are unique view points from which you can take the most stunning pictures.

With a total of 360 kilometres of blue, red, black and yellow runs the whole area is huge. For some reason, I always thought the red slopes were pretty tough in Switzerland, they were all ok here. The area is maintained very well here! Nice thing to know: with your ski pass you can even use the trains in the Zermatt area which is pretty convenient. The Gornergrat railway is unique! It takes you from the village centre in Zermatt to Gornergrat (3,089m) in just 33 minutes. From this point you have the most spectacular views over the area.

There are many restaurants and bars on the slopes where you can relax and order a drink while enjoying the most stunning views.

After a day on the slopes, it was time to go back to the hotel and enjoy the spa facilities. The next morning it was time to enjoy a wonderful breakfast again. Each morning, a full breakfast buffet is waiting for you. They even offer complimentary sparkling wine! There’s an omelet station where the chef prepares your eggs. Again, the food was fresh and service was good!

One of the most eco-friendly hotels in Brussels and right in the European Quarter of Brussels, the Thon Hotel EU is a perfect choice for both leisure and business travelers! I was excited to stay here as I was so curious about the eco-friendly stuff they are known for…

Recycling bins, use of low-flow water taps in the bathrooms, toilets are equipped with water saving devices and 95% of the lightning in the hotel are LED lamps, that is what I call environment friendly. They even donate left-behind toiletries to the homeless of Brussels. How cool is that? I never heard that before in any hotel! All guests who are staying for 2 or more nights have the option of having their room cleaned up during their stay or, if not, they can donate 5 EUR to charity or they can use the amount at the hotel’s bar or restaurant. They have a very cool totem in the reception area where you can put in a coin and choose for which association you donate the 5 EUR: Birds Bay, Red Cross or Good Planet Belgium.

Another ‘nice to know’ is that Thon hotels Brussels EU is certified by Safehotels which is the world’s leading hotel safety and security certification company. Rest assure that all guests and team members are treated in a very professional and good way!

I felt good at the Thon EU Hotel, it is full with bright and flashy colors. Hotel staff was friendly and made me feel at home as soon as I entered the hotel. They have a large public parking located right under the hotel where you can charge your car as they have several electric car chargers. The Reception area is lovely with nice and comfy couches where guests can relax and enjoy a drink. The hotel is quite big, but they will do anything to approach you as a guest and not just a number.

The room I stayed in, a royal suite, had a great size and was ultra luxurious! The suite was equipped with a separate living and dining area. The bedroom even has its private sauna. It felt like a private and exclusive apartment. The bathroom is modern and I was in love with the little duck. Great touch! The suite was immaculately clean! It was like I was the first one staying in the room 🙂
I also appreciated the Nespresso coffee machine and mini bar. Overall, the suite had everything I would expect from a high class hotel.

After exploring the room, I went to the fitness. It is a duplex fitness center with very up to date equipment. Even if you are not into working out, you can relax in the infrared sauna. Again, the whole place was well maintained.

Feeling hungry and/or thirsty after your work out? No problem, as the Thon EU Hotel has a full service restaurant “The Twelve” and lounge bar. We had dinner at The Twelve and were really impressed with both food and top notch service! As a starter I ordered the ravioli of foie gras with cepes mushrooms, reduction of Porto and Marsala with pink pepper. The Cod filet with shells and grey shrimps as main course was just delicious … it came with ratte potato mousse, a duo of sauce with white wine and hollandaise. For dessert, I ordered the iced soufflé of chestnut and chocolate, uile of chestnut chocolate and pistachios, persimmon coulis accompanied with meringues. It was heavenly! Oh, and do not forget to try their new Thonner’ke, their own beer … brewed with 100% Belgian hops and natural ingredients, it taste amazingly good!

There was a relaxed atmosphere throughout the entire hotel, although it is located near a pretty busy road. Breakfast was of a very good quality! I loved the freshly squeezed orange machine. It is a buffet style breakfast with plenty of hot and cold food choices. When you are staying here during the weekend, the buffet is open till 12 noon! Don’t miss the breakfast here! You will love it!

I do recommend staying at the Thon EU Hotel as it is an up to date four star hotel in a good location… And it does help making this world a better one… Thumbs up!
