Hotel Albana Real is a top notch four star diamond in the middle of Zermatt! This is not your average hotel! The hotel is a hidden gem in this gorgeous town. Inside this wonderful hotel another world is waiting for you! The hotel invites you to cross the line into an extraordinary world where lovely design and service are top priority. I was so surprised… let me tell you why!

When I entered the hotel I was welcomed with a great smile! I immediately felt at home and noticed the family atmosphere.

I loved my room here! Each room at Hotel Albana Real is unique and all feature the mountain style theme. We stayed in their Real Suite. At 90m², the suite is huge and featured high quality furniture, including a cozy sitting and dining area. The king sized bed was among the best I have experienced. The suite has a prime view over the Matterhorn. I was really impressed. I have been several times to Zermatt and the view of this gorgeous mountain was the very best I have experienced. We even had a full Matterhorn view while we were in bed.

I must also highlight the amazing (lighted!) jacuzzi bath tub in the bathroom. It was sooooo relaxing to unwind here after a day on the slopes in Zermatt. The separate shower was a bonus!

I also did visit several other types of rooms. Hotel Albana Real recently renovated their rooms and all looked very comfortable and up to date. A very nice detail: upon check-in, you will find a nice bottle of red wine for you to enjoy! Very nice…

I recharged myself at the spa center. This is the place to relax, unwind and refresh yourself after an active day in the mountains. The indoor pool is inviting as is the jaccuzi. The sauna and steam room are a treat and feel very exclusive. There’s relaxing music playing all over the place, even inside the sauna there are speakers. Very relaxing! I loved the lay out of the wellness area and the place was very well maintained. So even when the weather is bad, there’s no time of getting bored at Hotel Albana Real. There are so many things to do.

Another highlight here is Rua Thai. This is the place to be when you are looking for a unique Thai dining experience. The food and service here were top notch! I loved every single bite here. The restaurant is located in a unique setting. It kind of looked like we were in a ship. The maritime theme was noticeable throughout the entire restaurant. Very cool! As for the food, the choices here are endless and there’s something that will suite anyone’s taste. Our dining experience started with a mix of several traditional Thai starters. The fried shrimp and chicken sate were definitely one of my favorites. I immediately appreciated the fresh ingredients the chef used to prepare our dishes. The red curry chicken as a main course was just delicious and not too spicy! Exactly the way I requested. And of course, there’s always room for dessert! The banana split was so yummie! Definitely worth the calories 😊 An extra thank you for the great service!

Their other restaurant, Fuji of Zermatt, is a wonderful Japanese restaurant. I’m in love with the design of this restaurant. It is a trendy and stylish place. We did order some sushi and loved it! Highly recommended to book a table before you arrive at the hotel as both Asian restaurants were fully booked while we were there. There’s also a bar next to the restaurants with smoking lounge. We ordered drinks here and all were great and reasonably priced. We met some fellow travelers here and had a great chat with other the other guests.

Hotel Albana Real is located near the slopes of Zermatt. We were there during the winter season and of course we enjoyed the slopes of this gorgeous skiing area. Honestly, it is the best skiing area I have experienced in Switzerland. Of course, the unique views of the Matterhorn are mind blowing, but also the whole area is well connected and ski lifts are up to date and very efficient. There are unique view points from which you can take the most stunning pictures.

With a total of 360 kilometres of blue, red, black and yellow runs the whole area is huge. For some reason, I always thought the red slopes were pretty tough in Switzerland, they were all ok here. The area is maintained very well here! Nice thing to know: with your ski pass you can even use the trains in the Zermatt area which is pretty convenient. The Gornergrat railway is unique! It takes you from the village centre in Zermatt to Gornergrat (3,089m) in just 33 minutes. From this point you have the most spectacular views over the area.

There are many restaurants and bars on the slopes where you can relax and order a drink while enjoying the most stunning views.

After a day on the slopes, it was time to go back to the hotel and enjoy the spa facilities. The next morning it was time to enjoy a wonderful breakfast again. Each morning, a full breakfast buffet is waiting for you. They even offer complimentary sparkling wine! There’s an omelet station where the chef prepares your eggs. Again, the food was fresh and service was good!

Hotel Albana Real is a great four star hotel. I love everything about this hotel … from the location to the gorgeous rooms with all the amenities one could wish for! Highly recommended to book a stay at this family owned (and run) hotel!
