The Oberoi Dubai is one of the finest hotels I have ever stayed at in Dubai! It was the first time I stayed at an Oberoi hotel and was truly blown away by the service and overall quality of the property! Located in the business bay area, it is very conveniently located for both business and leisure guests.

As soon as you enter the hotel, they make you feel welcome! I actually felt “home” after the first night and that means a lot. Every single staff member greeted us with a smile and were happy to fulfill every request we had with a smile. It was really impressive and unseen in any other 5 star property.

IMG_9718 IMG_9788

Every room in this Oberoi hotel is spacious. We stayed in a superior deluxe room and at 52 m² it definitely is one of the largest rooms one could find in Dubai. Every guest will be escorted to the room and they explain everything you need to know about the in-room facilities. We liked the small sitting area with comfortable couch and oversized working desk. The bathroom was to die for, so beautiful and oh-so-clean! There’s a butler-service here which is very convenient as you just have to take the phone and make the requests you might have.

IMG_9732 IMG_9729

You could never get bored at the Oberoi Dubai, there is so much going on here. The pool is the nicest I have seen in Dubai and it never felt crowded. As soon as you enter the stunning pool area they will bring cold face towels and sun cream for your convenience. It are those small things that make the Oberoi Dubai so unique. Another great feature: the spa area. I thoroughly enjoyed my spa treatment… They take good care of you here and make sure you feel most comfortable and relaxed. Every treatment room even has its own steam shower, very impressive! After the treatment I enjoyed my cup of ginger tea. Do make sure you book a treatment while you’re here, you won’t be sorry!

IMG_9761 IMG_9707 IMG_9709

There are a few restaurants at the Oberoi Dubai. All looked very different, but always very stylish. As for their signature restaurants, there are 2 options: either Indian food or Japanese/Chinese food. We had dinner at Ananta, the Indian food restaurant. We felt like being in India while seated in this beautiful restaurant. It is one of the top rated restaurants in Dubai and definitely one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. Our menu came with whisky pairing, kind of different and very special. Something you should experience. And once again, the service was top notch.

IMG_9721 IMG_9770
IMG_9779 IMG_9775

After dinner we went off to bed and appreciated the best turn-down service ever experienced! They even unpacked our suitcases and hung up most of our clothes. The room was cleaned (again) and the good night message made it very personal. They are doing such a great job by making the whole Oberoi experience a unique one with a personal approach!

The next morning after a wonderful night, we had breakfast at Nice7One. Again, very classy and stylish and one of the best breakfast ever. It is a buffet style breakfast with several à la carte options, all presented in a very nice way. Not just one of those ordinary breakfasts, having breakfast here is pleasant and relaxing. Do try their cappuccinos, they are delicious!

I truly am very impressed with the Oberoi Dubai! It is all about perfection here, from the fresh flowers all over the hotel to the most personal approach one could wish for! Our stay at the Oberoi Dubai will be a memory that will last forever! Highly recommended when you are looking for a top luxury hotel in Dubai!

Hilton The Hague

Classification: 5 star hotel
Official website: www3.hilton.com/…/hilton-the-hague-AMSHHHI

Rated as one of the best hotels in the city, the Hilton The Hague is a high end 5 star property. This impressive hotel is set within the restored buildings of the former Royal Dutch Telecom headquarters. The location is perfect, prominently located in the embassy quarter of the city center and within walking distance of the many shops The Hague has to offer!

The lobby area is spacious and modern. I loved the interior design throughout this hotel! Quite modern without being over the top and cozy at the same time. We were welcomed with a smile and check-in went smoothly. They handed us a map of the city and told us everything we needed to know about the hotel and facilities.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite and were impressed with the overall quality and design of the room. The separate bedroom had a large king sized bed and cozy couch. There were 2 large desks and plenty of closets. The bathroom had double sinks, separate bath tub and a 2 persons (rain) shower. The living room had a dining table and small saloon. I loved the décor of the room, very nicely done with warm colors and high quality materials. Other facilities you may expect from a 5 star hotel: Nespresso coffee machine, Bose docking station and toiletries of a good quality.

We had access to the executive lounge which is located on the 5th floor. Here, guests can enjoy complimentary soft drinks and coffee all day long. During the evening, alcoholic beverages and light bites are offered at no additional charge. Although the lounge wasn’t too large, it was nice sitting there during day and night. It is an intimate space where guests can work or just relax and chat. I do recommend upgrading to the executive lounge as it has a lot of advantages. If you’re not a big eater, you actually don’t have to leave the hotel as there are many (small) food options for you to enjoy so you won’t get hungry.

The Hilton The Hague has one fine dining restaurant, Pearl. This restaurant is inspired by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer’s painting ‘Girl with a pearl earring’. Breakfast is served here every day. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with soft and colorful lighting effects. When I was taking pictures here, I looked outside for a second thinking how great it should be to enjoy the dishes outside while watching the boats floating by during summer time. There’s a full bar as well, named Spark.

FullSizeRender (97)

The fitness center is up to date and has great equipment with small build-in television screens. Complimentary water is provided. After the work out I had some work to do and enjoyed the business center with computer and printing facilities. I also liked the location of the business center, it was fun watching people walking by while working.

image7 (26)

After a great night, it was time to get up and enjoy breakfast. Since we were staying in a suite with lounge access, we had the option to have breakfast in the lounge or at Pearl, the restaurant I talked about earlier. We choose to have breakfast downstairs and enjoyed every bite. It was a buffet style breakfast with several à la carte options.

No wonder that the Hilton The Hague is known for its service and overall quality. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, 5 stars all the way!

Rated as one the best hotels in Berlin (and Germany!), the Regent Berlin is a statement here. This grand hotel is located in the center of Berlin and offers classic luxury at the highest level. People walking by the hotel were all looking inside, and no wonder why … the lobby is just gorgeous! There’s marble all over the place and  the Christmas decoration was stunning. Grand chandeliers, some wooden details and the most wonderful staff… what a great start!

image3 (29)
image5 (27) image4 (29)

Check-in was very personal, after the administration was done we were taken to our lovely room. Walking through this hotel feels like walking in a castle. The hallways are beautiful… And although the Regent is right in the ‘middle of it all’, you feel like royalty walking through the hallways. It is so quite here… and it feels so exclusive. The large room has been decorated in a very stylish ‘old fashioned’ way, and this is a compliment! The bathroom is one of the nicest I have seen in any five star hotel. Truly amazing, marble all over again, separate tub and shower with great water pressure, oversized sink and separate toilet. The beds were heaven and I had a great night’s sleep!

After exploring the room, I went working out downstairs in their fitness and spa area. Trust me, the place couldn’t have been cleaner. What a great place for working out and enjoying some me-time in the sauna. Complimentary water and fruit is offered.

image2 (30) image8 (22)

I was here during the festive season and wanted to explore some Christmas markets which are very popular in Germany. I immediately noticed how central located the Regent Berlin is! The “Gendarmenmarkt” literally is only a few steps away.

Their signature restaurant Fischers Fritz has 2 Michelin stars and offers award winning gastronomy to the guests. We had the gourmet breakfast here and honestly it was the best breakfast I have had here in Berlin. There were several à la carte options and a buffet. The quality of the food was outstanding and the service top notch.

No wonder the Regent is rated as one of the best hotels in Berlin! This place is so wonderful, so classy…so perfect! I would return in a heartbeat!

25hours Hotel Berlin

Hotelchain: 25hours
Location: Berlin – Germany
Classification: 4 star hotel
Official website: 25hours-hotels.com/de/bikini/home/home

The 25hours Bikini Hotel in Berlin is located in the west part of the city and is one of the most trendy hotels I have stayed at. Right opposite the Zoologischer Garten, the location is great. There’s a jungle and urban theme all over the hotel which makes the 25hours Hotel quite unique. The lobby is located on the 3rd floor, you first have to take an elevator before entering the lobby. Oh, I should mention the elevator! It is quite fun ‘riding’ the elevator … they’re quite dark and there are 2 screens featuring some cartoons and music, I loved it J And then you enter the lobby with a direct view of the Zoologischer Garten. There are hammocks everywhere and I almost felt I was in a jungle for a second.

image1 (34)
IMG_0464

The reception staff was pretty nice… Actually, most staff members I met here were young. And I must say, there’s a young vibe all around this hotel. The rooms are special and not like an ‘ordinary’ hotel room. A small cute monkey will await you! The first room we saw had a hammock and offered a direct view of the Zoologischer Garten. We did move because I was traveling with my dad and we wanted 2 separate beds. The second room was very nice as well, decorated in urban style. Every room has an open bathroom with (rain)shower and separate toilet.

image8 (21) IMG_0483
image9 (14) IMG_0485

For an additional charge (10 EUR) guests have access to the spa facilities located on the 9th floor. Again, very nicely decorated and you have a direct view of the Zoologischer Garten. Altough the fitness area was quite small, I was able to work out a bit. The panoramic sauna is quite nice and the place looked immaculately clean. Complimentary water is offered. After working out or spending some time in the sauna, relaxing in those comfy loungers feels soooooo good. It is the perfect place to relax after a full day of walking in Berlin! By the way, some rooms include bike rentals and guests can use a Mini to explore the city!

image6 (25) image2 (29)

At night, we went up to the top floor and had a look at the bar and restaurant. What a great place to hang out with friends and family! Offering stunning views of the Zoologischer Garten and great music, you will not get bored here! Prices were fair…

image5 (26) image4 (28)

We had to leave early the next morning and were not able to enjoy the breakfast. Instead, they offered us 2 breakfast bags which we enjoyed very much on our way to the airport! What a great service and most important … because we checked out at 3:45 AM … everything was done with a smile! A stay at the 25hours Bikini Hotel is highly recommended when staying in the west district of Berlin.

Waldorf Astoria Berlin

Hotelchain: Waldorf Astoria

Official website: waldorfastoriaberlin.com

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin opened only 3 years ago and I was excited to visit the hotel! Located right opposite the Zoologischer Gartner, it is centrally located in the west part of Berlin. The building itself is quite spectacular.

The lobby of the Waldorf Astoria is grand and of course, the huge Waldorf clock is the eye-catcher here. The reception staff was friendly without being over the top. I would describe the style as business… I guess many guests staying here are on a business trip.

image7 (22)

The standard rooms of the Waldorf Astoria Berlin are of a good size. There was a king sized bed, nice sitting area and all the amenities one would expect in a Waldorf Astoria hotel: fluffy bathrobes, a Nespresso coffee machine and a fully stocked minibar. There was a nice working desk as well. The bathroom featured a single sink, separate bath tub and (rain)shower.

image1 (32) image3 (27)
image10 (5) image2 (27)

Getting bored here will be difficult. The spa area is gorgeous! There’s an indoor pool, sauna and several treatment rooms. I had a look at the spa menu and prices are high, but I guess it is worth paying as everything looks very professional. I liked the soft and relaxing music playing all over the place.

image6 (24) image5 (25)

There are several dining options at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin. We had enjoyed an afternoon tea at the Library on the 15th floor. The view was outstanding! We were there during the festive season and could see the Christmas market on the Kurfürstendamm . The afternoon tea was nice, the tea was outstanding and we appreciated the freshly made finger sandwiches and pastries. The atmosphere was good and the Christmas music playing there made it an enjoyable experience.

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin is a great hotel in a good location. I do recommend staying here when you are looking for a luxurious experience.

VdV Airport Hotel – Düsseldorf

Hotelchain: Van der Valk
Location: Düsseldorf – Germany
Classification: 4 star superior
Official website: www.airporthotelduesseldorf.de/en

Located right at the airport of Düsseldorf, the airport hotel of the Van der Valk hotelgroup  is a four star superior hotel. The center of Düsseldorf is a 15 minute drive away, but I would recommend this hotel when you are looking for a hotel near the airport. They offer a complimentary shuttle service to the airport, by the way, which is very convenient.

FullSizeRender (79).jpg

The lobby of the Van der Valk Airport hotel Düsseldorf is large and nicely decorated. A very nice lobby with several comfortable and cozy sitting areas. The reception staff was very professional and made us feel welcome.

image1 (31)

The room we stayed in was comfortable and had a good size. When I was at home, I called and asked if they could provide a topper mattress and when we arrived the bed was very soft indeed. I liked the large bathroom with separate tub and walk-in (rain)shower. There was a nice sitting with 2 comfy couches. Although, the room was of a 4 star standard, I didn’t like the coffee making facilities. No coffee machine here and I don’t really like to see instant coffee products. But all in all, a good room without being over the top.

image3 (26).jpeg image2 (26).jpeg
image5 (24) image4 (26)

On the top floor of the Van der Valk airporthotel, there’s a large spa area with panoramic saunas and a very nice steam room. It was really nice chilling out in the comfortable relaxing area of the hotel. We didn’t find bathrobes in the room, but just had to call the reception and within a few minutes they were happy to bring us some cozy bathrobes… later we found out that there were plenty of robes and extra towels at the spa area which was appreciated!

image6 (23) image10 (4)
image8 (19) image9 (12)

There’s a full service restaurant here and prices are reasonable. We had breakfast here the next morning and were very pleased with the buffet! Plenty of choice such as several kinds of bread, cereals, etc. Freshly made eggs were appreciated! All in all, a very nice breakfast!

IMG_0315.JPG FullSizeRender (80).jpg

The Van der Valk airporthotel in Düsseldorf is a nice 4 star hotel right at the airport. I recommend staying here when you are flying from Düsseldorf. Don’t forget to check interesting “Stay, park and fly” arrangements at their website!

The Grosvenor House is rated as one of the best hotels in Dubai… So I definitely had to experience this hotel myself and was impressed! Entering the Grosvenor House Dubai is entering a world full of luxury and perfection.

IMG_9835 FullSizeRender

The main reception area is very large and luxurious decorated. I appreciated the fresh flowers all over the place and the most friendly staff one could wish for! The location is great, I love the Dubai Marina area. It is so relaxing here, I like the lay down and leisure atmosphere. Oh, and the twisted tower next to the hotel is impressive! Check-in went smoothly and the reception staff explained us everything we needed to know about the hotel.

IMG_9916 IMG_9960
IMG_9908 IMG_9917

The Grosvenor House has 2 large hotel towers and guests can choose from many different room categories. We stayed in one of their very large 2 bedroom residence apartments. The room was huge (105 m²) and had all the amenities of a 5 star hotel! There even was a spacious kitchen with washing machine, dish washer, etc. The living area had 2 of the most comfortable couches and a dining area. The 2 bedrooms were amazing with very comfortable beds and plenty of pillows. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Actually, the 2 bedrooms were both full hotel rooms each with television, safe, bath robes, etc.  The rooms were very well maintained. I did had a few requests and every time I took the phone and dialed “0”, someone answered the phone within a second, very impressive. Fun thing you should know is that they offer complimentary shoe shine service. Just drop your shoes in the shoe bag, dial “0” and within 15 minutes your shoes will be returned to your room, clean. It seemed like I had a new pair of shoes J

IMG_9968 IMG_9945
IMG_9813 IMG_9814 IMG_9815

There are a lot of facilities at the Grosvenor House and do know that they offer free shuttle service to either their sister property “Royal Meridien” or the “Mall of the Emirates”. Guests staying here can enjoy the facilities at the Royal Meridien Hotel which is located only 5 minutes from the Grosvenor House, especially the complimentary use of the beach is interesting. The Grosvenor House itself has a lot to offer as well: 2 large swimming pools, a full fitness center and the most beautiful spa area I have ever seen in a hotel. Their spa area B’attitude is located on the 4th floor and I was blown away when the elevator opened. It is so large and beautifully decorated. Even if you are over stressed, you will relax here. The staff was very accommodating and will made me feel at ease in seconds. This is the place to unwind and enjoy a treatment. I thoroughly enjoyed my 60 min massage here. First I was asked to fill in a small form asking me which parts of my body the therapist should (not) focus on and some questions about my health conditions. The 60 minutes that followed were pure relaxation. The therapist I had, did a great job and fulfilled the requests I filled in before. He even gave me some personal advice after the treatment since he felt some stiffness in my neck and shoulders.

 IMG_9910

There are several dining options. From a buffet style restaurant to gastronomic à la carte restaurants, the Grosvenor House Dubai has it all. We had dinner at Toro Toro, a South American restaurant with mainly meat dishes. There was a cool and young vibe around the place which I liked very much. The menu was outstanding and there are many dishes to choose from. I had an Australian steak and it truly was the best steak I have ever eaten, I loved every single bite. The dessert was delicious as well… I did visit other restaurants as well, all I can say is that every single place in this hotel looks stunning! Especially the Siddharta bar by Buddha Bar at the pool was to die for! The drinks and food they serve here are of a very high standard as well and again the service top notch. You really don’t have to leave the Grosvenor House if you are hungry or thirsty, there’s something for everyone here!

IMG_9957 IMG_9959 IMG_9967 IMG_9831
IMG_9953 IMG_9951
IMG_9952 IMG_9949

After all the eating and drinking, I went to gym which is located on a spa floor. Again, very beautiful located with a view out of the palm. I could see the Atlantis hotel while I was working out. The quality of the fitness equipment was outstanding with the most up to date features you could wish for.

IMG_9947

The next morning we had breakfast and I am not lying when I am telling you that this was one of the best and most complete breakfasts I have ever had! The choices are endless and the quality of the food is outstanding! They offer sushi, several south Asian, north American and eastern dishes. There even is a sweet station with different kinds of pancakes, pies, etc.

The Grosvenor House definitely deserves its good reputation! It is a classy 5 star hotel with the most professional staff. Very impressive and highly recommended when in Dubai!

I was excited to experience and explore the INK Hotel Amsterdam, a hotel of the prestigous MGallery Collection. This luxurious 4 star hotel has impressed me! It is a trendy place with a laid back atmosphere. From the outside, it looks like a more traditional Dutch hotel but as soon as you enter you enter an upscale high class hotel with a top notch service. The reception staff was very accommodating and check-in went smoothly. Always nice to be welcomed with a smile, we felt at ease from the first second.

image1 (7)

The building used to be the home of the Dutch newspaper “De Tijd”, it always has been a place where stories were conceived and let me tell you mine…

image5 (6) image2 (8).jpeg

This life style hotel has gone a complete make over only one year ago. It now is totally up to date and will please every traveler looking for a pleasant upscale hotel experience. Every staff member I met served us with a smile, was friendly and kind without being over the top. From the outside you wouldn’t tell that this hotel is pretty large and has 149 rooms. They have several room types and suites. We stayed in one of their executive rooms and were very pleased with our room! It featured an oversized king sized bed, cozy sitting area and the most wonderful touches. It wasn’t the typical hotel room, I appreciated the trendy decoration and atmosphere. This hotel is located right in the middle of Amsterdam, so don’t expect the largest rooms ever, but the space they have has been used in a very practical way. Our room actually had a great size and an open bathroom with walk-in (rain)shower and separate toilet. Other amenities you would expect from a high class hotel: Nespresso coffee machine, bathrobes, etc. The room had everything we needed and even the hall way was fun to walk through as there are so many humoristic elements and quotes throughout the hotel.

image4 (8) image3 (8)

After some shopping in beautiful Amsterdam, we went to the gym. I loved the wall…

IMG_0276

Later that night, we explored the PRESSROOM – the bar and restaurant of the INK Hotel Amsterdam. We first enjoyed our yummie cocktails and light bites before we were escorted to our cozy table in the middle of the restaurant. They have this ‘tasting experience’ which is reasonably priced. It is a three course “sharing food” experience and we loved the concept and food! Of course, à la carte dining is possible as well.
Although the restaurant was fully booked, the service (again) was top notch and always with a smile! The laid back and informal atmosphere was great and totally  in line with the hotel’s strategy. From the trout, to the coq au vin, every dish was delicious!

We had breakfast the next morning in the PRESSROOM and were happy finding out that there were many dishes to choose from! From the freshly baked eggs to several pastries, everything you would expect from a superior breakfast was there!

When you are looking for a unique and cool hotel right in the middle of Amsterdam? Do consider a stay at the INK Hotel Amsterdam! I definitely recommend staying here!

After exploring several hotels of the Hyatt chain, I was excited to experience the Andaz hotel in Amsterdam. There are only 2 Andaz hotels in Europe, one in Amsterdam and one in London. The Andaz hotel in Amsterdam is an upscale five star hotel with trendy and cozy interiors. The service here is top notch and the staff will do anything to make your stay flawless!

image8 (2)

The hotel is decorated and designed in a trendy way. There’s a cool vibe around this place which I liked very much. I loved the fact they filled the hotel full of typical Dutch items such as the Dutch Clumps, etc. By the way, no ordinary check-in here, they make it special. We were offered a drink in the bar and while we were enjoying our drinks, they did all the administration and handed our keys within minutes.

image9 (1) image5 (3)image4 (5) image5 (4)

The Andaz Amsterdam is located right at the Prinsengracht which is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We stayed in one of their large deluxe rooms overlooking the Prinsengracht. I do recommend the upgrade, it is worth the money… You will love the views! The large yellow couch was very comfortable and relaxing. It was fun to hang out in this room as there is so much to do around the hotel. The open design bathroom was just gorgeous! There’s a minibar with complimentary soft drinks and some light bites. Other amenities are the Nespresso coffee machine and oversized plush towels. The room had enough space and once again, I appreciated the attention to details. While you are seated on the toilet, you will not get bored… Check it out yourself and you will know what I mean.

image8 (3) image2 (5)

On the lower level of the hotel, there’s a (small) spa area with a large sauna, an over-sized shower and relaxation area. There’s a full fitness center as well. It is a great place to hang out after a day full of walking in Amsterdam.

image10 (2) image3 (4).jpeg

There’s a small lounge area, they call it the Library, where guests can enjoy complimentary wine and light bites from 5pm – 7pm. Always a bonus and great for an aperitif before dinner.

The next morning, we enjoyed a full breakfast downstairs. If is a buffet style breakfast with several cold and hot items. Again, the service was excellent! While I was staying at the Andaz Amsterdam, I had sore throat and the staff was so helpful and kind. They even offered me some complimentary ginger tea and some cough drops. This is what a true five star hotel is about! As mentioned, the Andaz Amsterdam is located right at the Prinsengracht and staying here will make you feel like a local in Amsterdam. Only opened for 19 months, the Waldorf Astoria already became one of the best hotels in Amsterdam! After 2 years of renovating the place, the result is amazing. It is located near the famous Herengracht. Entering the Waldorf Astoria hotel Amsterdam is entering a world full of luxury and attention to details. It truly is a unique canal palace. You are treated as royalty here and the personal service they provide will make a stay at the Waldorf Astoria as an experience rather than another hotel stay! At check-in, guests are asked to choose from 4 different kind of room scents. How cool is that? They will make sure your room smells the way you want, great!

The lounge area is just gorgeous and large. Although, there are ‘only’ 93 rooms at the Waldorf Astoria, the hotels feels grand and ultra luxurious. Marble and fresh flowers everywhere and I love the fact that they kept some original elements throughout the hotel. Occupying seven landmark 17th- and 18th-century buildings, this hotel is grand and you will feel the space… Walking around here feels like walking in a castle and although the hotel was fully booked, we didn’t notice.

Oh, and there’s soft classical music playing when you enter the room, very classy… very Waldorf!

So many things to do here: a full Guerlain (the first in the Benelux!) spa center with direct access to the hotel’s lush garden. The stunning indoor swimming pool is a bonus! Of course, there’s a full fitness center and after working out in the fitness or pool, you can relax in several relaxation areas.

The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam has several dining options. Their signature restaurant Librije’s zusje, located on the lower ground floor, has two Michelin stars and is one of the best restaurants that Amsterdam has to offer. Be sure to enjoy an aperitif at The Vault Bar, a hidden pearl of the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam in the former safe of this bank-building (the building used to be one of Amsterdam’s most prestige’s bank). And nice to know: great mojito’s! One of the best I have ever had! I thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the Goldfinch Brasserie which is overseen by executive chef Sidney Schutte, the award-winning chef of Librije’s zusje. I appreciated the international cuisine and yummie wines. The four course menu was reasonably priced and the overall quality of the food was outstanding! We had such a great time here! The couches, décor and atmosphere were amazing. Every dish was outstanding! Highly recommended to enjoy dinner here!
